Our Services: Benefits Advice and Financial Wellbeing

At The Project, our expert benefits advice service offers comprehensive support to help you navigate the complexities of the welfare system. From form filling to appealing decisions and providing tribunal support, we are here to ensure you receive the help you need. We also assist with grant applications and conduct financial wellbeing checks to ensure you are on the right benefits. Our services include support for benefit claims, backdated payments, and mandatory reconsideration appeals.

In 2023/24, we anticipate achieving over £1.8 million in financial gains for the individuals and families we work with through our welfare benefits advice and casework.

Who We Support

Our financial wellbeing services are available to:
  • Anyone over 18 years of age,  living in Northfield Constituency
  • Any families and young people living in Selly Oak
  • Individuals in South Birmingham with Mental Health Challenges, delivered in partnership with B:CAN.
  • Anyone referred by B30 and Redditch Foodbank

Our Services: Housing, Homelessness and Wellbeing

At The Project, we provide expert support to help individuals and families navigate the complexities of housing and homelessness prevention. Our dedicated team can assist with making referrals to housing providers, completing necessary forms, exploring available housing options, and understanding homelessness processes and systems.

In 2022/2023, we successfully supported 477 people in improving their housing situations and gaining a clearer understanding of their options.

Wellbeing

Our comprehensive wellbeing services are designed to connect you with a wide range of organisations and resources aimed at enhancing your overall wellbeing. These services may include referrals to trusted health providers, access to community-based activities that combat social isolation, and connections to specialised agencies that offer support in tackling challenges that might feel daunting or overwhelming. By bridging the gap between you and these valuable resources, our services empower you to take proactive steps toward improving your mental, physical, and social health. Our Services: Debt Advice

At The Project, we offer expert, accredited debt advice designed to help you take control of your finances and work towards long-term stability. Our experienced team provides tailored support, including understanding your financial situation, developing manageable repayment plans, and negotiating with creditors on your behalf. We also guide you through debt relief options and offer ongoing assistance to ensure you stay on track.

To date, we have successfully helped clients manage over £146,465 in debt, and we are committed to helping even more individuals achieve financial freedom. Since October 2024, we have partnered with Birmingham Voluntary Service Council, Age Concern Birmingham, and ecobirmingham to deliver specialist debt advice at various Centres For Warmth in the Sutton Coldfield area. These free drop-in sessions have proven highly popular, providing essential support to those in need.

Drop-In Sessions

The free drop-in sessions in and around Sutton Coldfield are taking place as follows:

  • Age Concern Birmingham: Sutton Coldfield Baptist Church, B72 1TA, (fortnightly Fridays 10am – 12 noon)
  • Age Concern Birmingham: Sutton Coldfield United Reformed Church, B73 6AA, (fortnightly Tuesdays 10:15am – 12:15pm)
  • Age Concern Birmingham: Mere Green Community Centre, B75 5BT, (fortnightly Tuesdays 1pm – 3pm)
  • Age Concern Birmingham: Communitea Cafe, B73 5TJ, (fortnightly Saturdays 11am – 1pm)
  • ecobirmingham: Holy Cross & St. Francis RC Church, B76 2RS, (first Monday of each month 10am – 12 noon)
  • ecobirmingham: Falcon Lodge Chapel, B75 7ES, (first Monday of each month 12:30pm – 2:30pm)
